About

My design interests developed from a small scale. I started with hands-on crafts that give a direct and immediate effect--such as ceramics, woodworking, model-making & metal fabrication. I became curious in assemblies, details, and the way things are put together.

As my career progresses I continue to find new ways to grow. My core experience has been with smaller-scale residential and commercial projects, primarily custom restaurants & luxury homes. Recently I've focused on projects involving complications such as Coastal, hillside, basement and design review issues.

I've also found a desire to better understand how projects are delivered and built. I enjoy learning better ways to communicate design intent, about construction methods--and even learning about Code requirements & technical standards.

Experience

Hamilton Architects — Associate (Designer / Project Manager) — 1.2014 - current
Design, document, permit & manage a range of project types including new custom homes, spec. development, custom restaurants and retail. Residential work currently focuses on hillside and subterranean construction, and often those that require particular Planning or Design entitlements. Commercial projects generally involve adaptive reuse to new restaurant or retail uses. Roles span both Design & Architectural services--sometimes we are responsible for the complete project, while other times the firm is engaged as the Architect of Record.

Swift Lee Office — Junior Designer — 9.2013 - 12.2013
A 3 1/2 month trial period as a junior project designer, working on academic and commercial projects across California. This included work on DSA submittal sets for two charter schools, client / community renderings, schematic design & materials research. I also worked on the drafting and detailing of numerous CASp projects. By the end of the trial period I saw this was not a good fit and decided to move on from the firm.

Gigante AG — Junior Designer — 6.2011 - 9.2013
After graduating from USC, I worked as a junior designer at a professor’s architecture / fabrication studio. For over two years I was responsible for deliverables on a majority of the residential and commercial projects within the office. This included schematic design, plan check sets (primarily in Revit), 3D renderings (Vray and Revit), physical mock-ups and on-site fabrications.

USC CAD Services — Revit Modeler — 5.2010 - 9.2010
Assisted with the department’s transition to Revit, creating as-built models of campus buildings and defining procedures / standards for future workers. I was responsible for producing complete models up to 5500sf, as well as shared models up to 190,000sf.

Wagstaff Architects — Draftsman Intern — 5.2008 - 8.2008
Updated plans, schedules and interior elevations for custom single-family homes. Developed presentation graphics for a pre-fabricated housing project, including general 2D drawings, assembly details and interior isometrics.
